Habitual Dating Sexual Sin Temptation

Why We Have To Stop Habitual Dating Before It Wrecks Us Up

“And so, dear brothers and sisters, I plead with you to give your bodies to God because of all he has done for you. Let them be a living and holy sacrifice-the kind He will find acceptable. This is truly the way to worship Him” – Romans 12:1

Christian walk is not an easy walk if it were many people would be Christians. God states very firmly in Matthew 24:24-26  about dying to self and picking up your cross daily, if you choose to save your life, you will lose it. We simply can’t choose to live the way we want and expect God to bless us.

You know I’m writing this with a small smile because people assume we just wake up one day, become a Christian and the flesh just listens. It is a daily surrender, fleeing tempting situations and choosing God over and over again. As a human being we still experience “urges” at times and thoughts do enter our minds but we must choose to not act on them and let it take root.

I chose to write on this topic again not to stress purity but to acknowledge we as Christian women are not perfect, we get tempted but we do serve a God who is perfect and strengthens in this area. He gives us the grace and wisdom to handle what ever situation in life comes our way. He knows our weaknesses and empowers us every day to stand firm.  Unlike our adversary who recognises our weaknesses and tries to use them against us. Which leads me to these points we must follow in order to flee temptation.

One very important lesson I’ve learned is choosing my words wisely in public and in private.

The enemy will make sure to bring every temptation your way in order to spiritually distract you. These past couple of months have been very interesting.

I was telling a few friends of mine that it seemed like I had a huge “A” on my forehead that marked me “Available” because it seemed as though every male that I encountered wanted to date me. I questioned myself and God and said “Am I attracting these Ishmael’s or is Satan trying to distract me?”.

I recognised words I both spoke aloud and in prayer and realised someone besides God has been listening.

The tongue of the wise makes knowledge appealing, but the mouth of a fool belches out foolishness.” (Proverbs 15:2)

We must be certain our speech is full of less complaints and full of more gratitude. Instead of “God when are you going to send my husband” say “God I know your timing is perfect, while I wait teach me how to be a good wife”. You can be certain He will hear and answer in His perfect timing.

We must not be habitual daters.

God is not the author of confusion. I simply cannot go on a date with any guy that is attractive and shows interest. I have to learn to guard my heart and mind against any form of temptation. The minute I am interested in a person, I have to bring it to God in prayer. He will reveal if that person is who He chose for me or if that person is just a distraction. God knows that person more than I do. But what if he’s tall and handsome? He might be but will he be able to lead me and my family to Jesus?

Our time is precious. We don’t want  to open ourselves up to a person who God did not send. It will be more difficult to hear God’s direction when our feelings and emotions are in control.

Feelings lie. We need the leading of The Holy Spirit to helps us discern lies and the truth.

When we are led by emotions we make foolish decisions and we have to remember “the heart is deceitful” (Jeremiah 17:9). It is ungodly to be led by emotions. We all experience human emotions that is why we need a fresh infilling of the The Holy Spirit every day in order to tame our feelings.

You see when Paul spoke on “not being boastful” in 2 Corinthians 12:5 because in our own power it would be impossible to live the Word of God regarding sexual immorality. But because of the power of God that lives on the inside of us, it gives us the ability to flee temptation.

Lazada PhilippinesI am sure that in the midst of my Christian walk, I will be presented with opportunities to engage in sexual sin but what sets me apart from an unbeliever is the fear of the Lord, reverence for our Heavenly Father and His perfect love.

  1. Hallelujah and praise JESUS for such boldness to share such TRUTH! I’m loving this and living by the WORD and trusting God for His direction. Serial dating will take one far from CHRIST and truly bring forth rotten fruit and spoil one for His true purposes.
I knew of the call on my life and serial dating cost me beyond measure, now single for over 2 and a half years, I trust God has a Proverbs wife for me, He’s already used me for His glory showing me all things are possible to Him who BELIEVETH!
“Thank you with blessings of Love in JESUS mighty name for this reminder and encouraging write. ”
I trust this will bless most every reader who is receptive to His loving Truth1
