What is success

Success Isn’t In the Lipstick Shade & High Heels You Wear

“The LORD directs the steps of the godly. He delights in every detail of their lives.” – Psalm 37:23

Our mind is where Satan loves to dwell. He plants seeds of doubt, fear, worry and rejection in our heads as early as our childhood and without us even realizing it, those negative thoughts carry over into our adult years. Yes, we come to our adult lives as junked filled beings, before a perfect God, in whose image we were created, crippled in the mind.

One of the nastiest junks the enemy has spun in our minds is the image of success. The term is clothed in our materialistic culture as acquirement of money, fame, or power. And this leads our mind off kilter. It makes us focus on the evanescent, on how we appear outwardly rather than on who really God made us to be.

True success is not temporal and it doesn’t wash away along with accomplishments. It’s not in the Ruby Woo lipstick you wear or in the 5-inch heels you strut for ExeCom meetings at Mondays 10 am.

It is founded upon God’s word, where it defines success as beginning and ending with God in mind. It is in our yielding every part of our daily life over to our Father.

Success doesn’t arrive from the outside in. It is an inside out process. When we allow God to perform and complete His perfect work through us in this manner, we experience true and untiring success.

“And I am certain that God, who began the good work within you, will continue his work until it is finally finished on the day when Christ Jesus returns.” – Philippians 1:6

Isn’t it great that God doesn’t demand that we mold our own perfection in order for Him to be proud of us? It doesn’t matter what the world thinks. He’s proud of you, and He’s proud of me. He has His own plan and goal for us, and it’s far from the KRAs we know. It’s founded on the fruit of the spirit– in love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.

Take a moment to look at your current idea of success. Does it make you feel positive, encouraging, uplifting to yourself and others? There is power in thoughts and you must harvest God’s reward of true success by letting go of the pressure and replacing them by mediating on the things of God and what He has in store for you.

The path to success doesn’t attempt at gaining fame or material gain. It’s rooted in the realization of God’s desires. It all starts with reading the Bible and allowing the Holy Spirit to debunk each of the lies the enemy has sowed in us, and replace the thoughts of the world with the thoughts of God. Meditation of God’s word fill ourselves up with what God thinks of us and how our life should be.

The ultimate achievement comes with hearing God say, “Well done good and faithful daughter, enter into the joy of your Father” and allowing His purpose to shine through in your life for others to see.
